Celebrating discoveries, curiosity, and a little friendly competition.
Every clue chased, every record found, every story rediscovered.
It all adds up here.
🏅 How the Leaderboard Works
Welcome to The Great Family History Hunt leaderboard where curiosity, consistency, and a little friendly competition all pay off. 💜
Here’s how the points add up each day:
| Action | Points Earned |
|---|---|
| 🕵️♀️ Complete the main challenge | +10 points |
| ⚡ Complete the bonus challenge | +5 points |
| ✍️ Share a little "Story Time" | +5 points |
| ⏰ Be one of the first 10 to submit | +5 bonus points |
That means you can earn up to 25 points per day and every single clue you chase helps you climb the leaderboard.
💌 Missed a Day? No Problem!
You can go back and submit challenges from earlier in the month anytime.
You’ll still earn full points for that day and they’ll be added to your total retroactively.
(You just won’t be entered in that day’s prize drawing if you submit more than 24 hours after the challenge was sent out.)
🎉 Daily Prizes
Each day, one lucky participant from the previous day’s submissions wins a random drawing for an AncestryDNA kit or a Family Chartmasters gift card.
🏆 Weekly & Grand Prizes
Every Saturday, we celebrate:
-
Top Sleuth of the Week: The participant with the most points that week.
-
Wild Card Winner: Randomly drawn from everyone who played that week.
At the end of the Hunt, our overall Top Sleuth wins the custom Family Chartmasters chart ($500 value)!
💜 Remember
You don’t have to win to make it worthwhile. Every story you uncover, every clue you chase, and every submission you make keeps the spirit of The Hunt alive and grows your family history sleuthing skills. So keep exploring, keep sharing, and watch your points (and your family stories) grow! 🌿
🏆 Daily Prize Winners🏆
Every day, one lucky sleuth wins a prize just for playing!
Daily winners are randomly selected from everyone who submitted their challenge within 24 hours of the email send.
They can choose between an AncestryDNA kit or a $25 Family Chartmasters gift certificate as their prize.

Week 2 Winners!
What. A. Week. 🎉
In week 2 of The Great Family History Hunt competition really heated up and the challenges got a little more challenging.
This week you found big families, quirky ads, brave women, and strange notations. But my favorite challenge of the week, by far, was the "What's Your Number?" activity. I refreshed my own chart and got to see so many of yours posted on Facebook and Instagram. It's so eye opening to step back and look at your tree that way.
Thanks so much for playing along. I'm learning. I hope you're learning. And I think we're all having fun. Now, on to celebrating some of our week 2 sleuths.
🥇 Top Sleuth of the Week: Regina F
This detective completed every challenge, every day and was in the top ten to submit four out of five days this week. Congratulations, Regina! You get to choose between a $75 Family Chartmasters gift certificate or a 30 min one-on-one coaching session with Crista for your outstanding effort and dedication. 💪
Fun fact: Next time you chat with Regina, be sure to ask her about "sad irons" or the family with not one, not two, but THREE sets of twins.
🎁 Wild Card Winner: Rudy Ramsey
Every submission counts and this week’s lucky Wild Card winner was drawn from everyone who participated in at least one challenge. Congratulations, Rudy! You’ve won a $50 Family Chartmasters gift certificate. Proof that curiosity pays off! 😉

Week 1 Winners!
What. A. Week. 🎉
Our first week of The Great Family History Hunt is officially in the books. And wow, you all came out sleuthing strong!
From odd jobs and crazy names to strange accidents and DNA discoveries, you’ve already uncovered stories that made me laugh, gasp, and wonder.
Every clue you chased added up, and now it’s time to celebrate our Week 1 standouts!
🥇 Top Sleuth of the Week: Lisa McC
This detective went all-in completing every challenge, tackling those bonus clues, and earning the highest point total of the week. Congratulations, Lisa! You get to choose between a $75 Family Chartmasters gift certificate or a 30 min one-on-one coaching session with Crista for your outstanding effort and dedication. 💪
Fun fact: Lisa's newspaper find on Day 4 was not just a strange story, it was also one of the more unusual jobs I have ever heard of. A group of teenage boys were tasked with being "rat hunters" to save the crops of the local farmers. What?! Ew.
🎁 Wild Card Winner: Alison Abella
Every submission counts and this week’s lucky Wild Card winner was drawn from everyone who participated in at least one challenge. Congratulations, Alison! You’ve won a $50 Family Chartmasters gift certificate. Proof that curiosity pays off! 😉
